Dunes are coming!

THE RACE

Nicolas:”Broken CAP…..falling over the handlebars…...surfing the dunes. TOP!”

Some mishaps today. I made the first 10 kilometers with the broken-down Cape repeater. The situation was complicated to manage because the navigation at the beginning of the race was done with the capes. Do not ask me how I did it. It had to be tricky.
A problem never coming alone, my right hand was completely numb for 50 kilometers. To pull on the gas handle and accelerate was OK, but to slowdown was very complicated.

In the misadventures I can still add my somersault over the bike when it stopped clean in soft sand. It made me laugh because I'm not hurt.

Still a good day of navigation, super attacks on beautiful tracks but also the passage in a demonic track made of stone slabs. Hello, the moments of suffering. This is not the first time I take this track and it is never be a pleasure. Finally the thirty kilometers in the dunes was a sacred pleasure part. Hyper fun!

Tomorrow several dune passages including the cathedral dunes of Merzouga. Enjoy

RallyGuide2019 - MOROCCO DESERT CHALLENGE

Again a stunning day with a massive variety in landscapes and beautiful navigation. No stones today but many sandy tracks. After 70 km, most of it on jumpy tracks, it’s time for what many of you have been waiting for: 50 km across the dunes of Erg Chegaga.

From CP2 onwards it gets even more spectacular. After 8 kms of driving through a massive oued, south of Mhamid, you enter a fascinating moon landscape that only few of us have witnessed before. 35 km of slaloming and drifting between small bumps and decayed trees awaits you.

The last part of the day, between Mhamid and Zagora, is a mix of dunettes, fast sandy tracks, rocky paths in the hills, a palm plantation and a couple of small villages. Respect the speed limit zones of 30 and 50km/h.
